Anora's Video |
Description: Anora is very affectionate, intelligent and athletic. She has already earned an obedience title and passed a temperment test similar to the canine good citizen test. Unfortunately, her mother died and now she is looking for a forever home. She is a super-fantastic dog who will learn any job you ask of her! Please contact us at mere3chien@yahoo.com to meet Anora.
Update: Anora is a wonderfully smart and beautiful dog. Watch her video and see for yourself. Please forgive the dog any errors, this handler is only a novice. We only meet once per week, but think what YOU could do with her if you lived with her everyday!
Anora is a spayed 2 year old purebred sable GSD from working lines. She was orphaned when her human mother (Gabi) died from cancer last year. In her last wishes, Gabi told her friends that if anything happened to her, please find loving homes for her dogs. Since Gabi’s death, Anora has been well cared for (and trained) in a home by loving friends, but now she needs a forever home of her own.
Anora has passed a German temperament test (similar to the CGC), and an outdoor obedience test similar to the AKC CD. She has also earned an AKC tracking title.
Anora loves people! She is always ready to go for a walk, play ball or give you a kiss. However, to her high prey drive, she can not be placed with cats, small dogs or young children. Ideally, we would like to place her with a large (70 pounds) male dog, since she always enjoyed the company of her now adopted older brother (large 8yr old GSD). She can also be placed as an only pet.
Please contact me directly if you are interested. Anora is being courtesy posted by Roxie’s Fund which means that we will follow their protocol for adoption (application, reference check, home visit and registration for training prior to adoption).

Description: Bella is a 1 year old Pure Bred German Shepherd. We cant have her anymore because my wife has a high risk pregnancy and where we are going to move I won't be able to take her with us. She is a little scared of humans until she really gets to know someone. She is a hand full; she has a tendency to dig holes and barks a lot. When walking her on a leash she is aggressive with other dogs, but when you take her to a dog park she is well behaved. It might be good for her to be with other, big dogs so she can become better socialized. She needs proper training, but with the right owner I am sure that won't be a problem. She is still young and has a long life. She needs obedience training.

Description: “Hi, my name is Dale! I am a sweet and loving guy and I am eager to be your over-sized cuddle buddy. Sometimes I get nervous or overwhelmed by a lot of excitement going on, but once I have some time to adjust I make myself right at home. In my foster home I was a little nervous at first, but after a few days I started being my silly self and doing things like belly-sliding across the floor and wiggling around on my back while the puppy here chews on my ears. I love getting attention from other people and dogs and would just really love to have someone to snuggle with! I will let you squish my face, use me as your own personal pillow, or maybe just keep your feet warm – as long as we are together. I will try to push your boundaries with food and furniture just a little bit, but don’t worry, once you are firm with me and tell me no once or twice I get the hint and just go lay down again. Whatever it takes to make you happy – I’ve got it covered! Please won’t you give me a chance to be a part of your family?”

Description: Dallas came to my husband & I at about age 6 mo after being hit by a car. He has to be crated when no one is home and fed separately from my other dog (both are food aggressive, not to people). He is kept in the yard with an invisible fence (which works the best!). Unfortunately, we are unable to keep him because he does not get along with my 3 year old daughter. He would do best with out small children invading "his space". Older more mature children he would love to play ball with and LOVES being outside (except cold weather). He also loves watching TV with my husband and sharing popcorn (the only table food allowed). Please call for further information.

Here is a little about Danto:
Danto's Benefits:
- Totally loyal to his people. Once he knows you, you are a friend and cuddle buddy for life. He has never EVER shown the slightest bit of aggression to anyone in our family.
- Loves to play, run around, and chase the garden hose.
- The best snuggler in the worldhe's wonderful on a cold night.
- Has always been loved and well cared for, is clean, has all his shots, and is neutered.
- Knows basic obedience commands (sit, down, wait, drop it, go to your bed, outside)
- Is leash trained on a head collar and hardly EVER pulls.
- Is an absolutely beautiful dog, great physique, gorgeous brindle coat.
- Has not had any major health problems.
Danto's Challenges:
- Has shown prey drive toward our housecats; has cornered them numerous times. Hasn't injured one yet, but we believe he could if he could figure out how to do it. He will not be going to a house with cats for safety precaution.
- Is fearful of strangers in our home. We have worked on this for years with him and have made great progress. He is still slow to warm up to new people, but will get there if given his space. (Once he warms up, you are his friend forever.)
- Has had very little experience with children, though has been great with our newborn. He would be best for a slightly older crowd.
- Barks and growls when people approach the house, or when he hears strange noises outside. (Has been a good and bad thing for us)
Why would someone want a dog like Danto? Danto's greatest attribute is also his Achilles heel. He is such an intense dog. He loves so intensely, so completely, that it could break your heart. His family is everything to him. But that intensity also gets him into a lot of trouble. Our home, with two working adults and an infant, just can't provide him with the level of exercise, discipline, and structure he needs in order to flourish. In the right home, though, I think all his challenges will tune down, and his absolutely wonderful benefits will shine through.

Description: Gatorade (Gator) is a true marathon runner. If you want a dog as a jogging partner, he's perfect. He really needs to be "worked". We have a backpack that he carries waters and keys in while we run. Since having a baby and my husband's new job, we have not been jogging with him. He's depressed and starting to not eat. He digs in the backyard if left alone. He really needs a job to do. He feels happiest when running along side you. Will be your shadow. He's not a bad dog, just has owners who went through a life change that he couldn't handle. He loves kids but I wont be able to jog with my baby for another 4 months. My husband is out of town all the time now so Gator is put on the back burner. He used to mark in the house but that has gotten better with time. Only does it when we introduce a new piece of baby furniture. Eats very little, is crate trained, and loves attention. Hates thunderstorms and fireworks. Please consider him if you know the breed. They can be very neurotic if they aren't worked and he is starting to exhibit those traits again now that his routine is crazy. I had hired a dog walker but she was unreliable and expensive. You will get compliment after compliment on how beautiful this dog is. He is just magnificent looking when he's eating and in his element.

Description: Genesis
looks pure bred, but I don't know if she is as she does not have
papers. I have to give her up because she nipped a boy in
the neighborhood riding with a group of kids on scooters.
She has never done anything like this before. She is so calm
that I was really surprised at this. The boy's mom wants to
get rid of her in 5 days. I really don't see this dog as one
who is a real problem. I just can't afford to do what has
to be done to keep her here securely and I don't want this to happen
again. I think she will do better being totally integrated
into a family. I believe I am the problem, but I can't do
anything about it now. I just don't want her killed.
Update: Genesis is a sweet dog, who loves
to go on long walks. We walk more than a mile every day. I have
trained her to poop in specific places. She waits to get to these
places for this purpose. And Genesis, Genny for short, is one of
those dogs that likes to play the you throw the tennis ball and
I’ll catch it game. And then she doesn’t want to give it back to
me, but will drop it so, I can get it and throw it again. She’s
a lot of fun. Sometimes she will just sit with you very peaceably
with her legs crossed looking rather regal. She will make a great pet for someone who has patience and will
love her.

Description: Meet Huxley a 3 year old White German Shepherd mix. He is very playful and likes to play with other dogs, but he also does wonderfully as an only dog, and loves his humans immensely. He enjoys doing active things like walks, run, hikes, playing with other dogs, but he also knows when it is time to lay down while his foster family rests after a long day. He is incredibly loyal.
Huxley-boy is completely housebroken (NO marking) and does great in his crate while his foster family is gone to work. He is not destructive and sleeps out in the bedroom at night with his foster parents. He does great with chewing only on things that are his like his nylabone, though he does love to play with a sock if he can get a hold of one every once in a while. He is obedient when taught and eager to please. He walks well on a leash and loves to spend time doing things like taking walks with his family.
This is one of the sweetest dogs, who absolutely adores his owners. He gives his foster mom a kiss on the nose every morning when she bends down and says "kiss". Sweet Huxley deserves his forever home and his sweet loving, energetic personality will bring a smile to your face every day!!!!

Description: Layla and Leon were found abandoned with their Mom when they were about 1 month old. My husband and I rescued Layla at 4 months and then found out she had a brother and adopted him at 7 months. They are both very loving and AMAZING dogs and will completely love their owners!
We are so heartbroken and sad that we need to find them a new home, but it’s only fair to them. We recently moved and had a new baby (so a lot of changes in their life!). They are good with people they know and trust, but not always with new people and kids. We have worked with a trainer and behaviorist and the good news is that he knows they are VERY quick learners and can work with them, but they need someone who can give them the time they need for this. We both work in NYC and by the time we are home/take care of the new baby we have no time for them. It’s just not fair. The behaviorist we had been working with would be happy to provide his contact info. to speak to. They can be together or apart….whatever helps them. They would do best in a home(s) with no kids or pets and a home where they can get the time and attention they deserve.
Leon is a total goofball! He LOVES to hop around outside and play. Layla is a very sweet girl and loves to give lots of kisses. Please reach out to us with any questions or additional info. We have additional pictures/videos we can send too. Please help us save these great dogs and give them a great life!

Description: Leila is new to rescue. Sadly, she was an owner surrender because of family circumstances, and found herself in a terrible spot at a animal control facility. Due to her Senior status, she was very much in danger of being euthanized because the shelter was overcrowded. Leila, unfortunately had been neglected and has not had the best of care -- which is so sad for a lovely, mature lady. She is now feeling so much better and is a loving and sweet girl. She is a little shy at first, but once she trusts you, she opens up, relaxes, and you are her best friend. Leila is an older gal, but very spritely and feels very happy now about her situation. We recommend her to be in a household without cats or other small animals due to her prey drive, but she does get along fine with other dogs. We also do not know how she is with small children, so would recommend that she be placed in a home with older and more considerate, more dog saavy children. This is especially due to her age and her size.
If you would like to make Leila a part of your family she's very easy going, very alert, would love to go with you on leisurely walks. Leila is up to date on her shots and she has been spayed.
For more information and instructions about adopting this lovely lady, please contact Deb at: deblewellen@gmail.com

Description: Max was a stray my daughter brought home. We had six acres in the outside of town and had to move into town with only one acre. He jumps the fence in the back yard and I am afraid he will get hurt. He is not happy here since he can't be as free. He gets along with other dogs as long as he can dominate them. He is very energetic and loves to play and run. We had horses and he used to chase them too. He is smart but very stubborn. He has the potential to be a very obedient dog but, he needs a dominate strong figure to lead him, and I am afraid I am not it. I have four children and find it hard to take the time he needs to be trained. We have used a trainer. He has a strong predator instinct and can be very unfocused when outside. He has jumped a 10 foot chain link fence so I know he can be very determined. He is very loving and he is a good dog. I am sorry to say that our family is just not the best place for him, and his happiness is what's important. He is crate trained, and he likes his space. He has managed to get out of every outside kennel I have tried to put him in. I hope he can find a loving home that will love him like I do and take the best care of him. |

Description: Unfortunately, the reason I'm in need of finding a new home is his personality. He is in good health, 3 yrs old male, nuetered. Has grown up with another shephard, and been around a few other dogs even a chihuahua. So he seems find with dogs. He has been raised around 4 children. However, he's become very territorial. He almost bit someone that came near our yard a few days ago, and has nipped as several neighborhood kids that come to play in our yard. I've always had dogs, but never had to train them to NOT bite, and he doesn't seem to understand. He's been jumping our fence when he sees a new dog, to meet them (not attack, just meet). Lately, he can only go outside if he's on a chain, we have a 6 ft pen, but he manages to get out of that as well. If he gets scared he runs and hides in the tightest spot he can get into. He is housetrained, although I wonder (if out of spite or attitude) sometimes he'll mess in the house even though he's in and out of the house around 20 times a day.
I can only assume that this is him acting out. When I first got him at 6 months I was out of work, and had been for 2 more years. I started working again in February, then also started college part-time, and I'm also a single mom with lots of kids activities to do. Most of this behavior has started since I haven't been home. I don't want him to live a life on a chain, and feel that if he is in a better environment and has better training his personality may improve. |

Description: Milo is a very loving dog. He hasn’t been socialized much, so he needs proper introduction to strangers (both human & animal). He listens well and is eager to please. He loves to play fetch with a ball. Milo is too large for our house and yard. He also spends a good bit of time crated, because our other dog never took to him. We are hoping to find a good home for milo, where he can get lots of exercise, love, and attention. We feel Milo is best suited for someone who has previously owned german shepherds. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. Anyone interested will need to travel to our house in central PA, so Milo can be crated for initial introduction

Description: Prince Charles went from a Maryland shelter, where he was very frightened and not doing well, to a foster home where he became more comfortable and confident. As his confidence grew, it was a pleasure to watch him discover the joys of life. He loves to wander around outside and roll on his back on the grass. He is a sensitive, gentle guy who forms strong attachments quickly. He is happiest when he is with the people he knows. He is now fine with meeting new people, as long as they respect his sensitivity. He also likes dogs as long as they don't scare him. He is good walking on a leash and also enjoys relaxing with his people. He particularly likes sleeping on the bed with his family at night. He is looking for a home on the quiet side with a family that can give him the life he deserves.

Riley
Sex: Male Neutered
Breed: German Shepherd
Age: 6 yrs
Color: Black
Size: XLarge, 110#
House Broken: Yes
Obedience Trained: Knows sit, paw.
Living With: Foster Family / Executive Director of Stafford SPCA
Date Posted: 12/13/11
History: Riley was gotten as a puppy in Hawaii by a military family. He had to endure the quarantine set by Hawaii in order to travel back to the mainland. That family transfered him to another family in Stafford that kept him in a kennel that was too small for him and fed him a poor diet. When we got him, he had horrible ear infections requiring surgery, he chewed his tail bloody and was unneutered. He's been altered, had his ears attended to and is now on a very strict, low ingredient diet that addresses all of his food allergies. His coat is a medium length, beautify glossy black and his tail has healed and looks gorgeous. His anxiety has been transferred to a durable rubber ball that he keeps with him like a 'blankie'.
Altered: Yes
Good with Kids: no
Good with Cats: no
Good with Dogs: not very many. He was in a home with another, older, alpha male when we took him a year ago but he hasn't done well with introductions one on one since then. However, he totally ignores other dogs on the dog walk at a local park.

Description: Riley is a 6 yo black German Shepherd who weighs about 110#! He's a BIG strong boy! Riley was rescued in October 2010 and has made great improvements since. He was malnourished, lacked proper vet care and was on a horrible diet. What a difference a little love and a change in food has made. He's strong, healthy, muscular and has a GORGEOUS jet black coat!! He's extremely gentle and takes treats directly from our mouths. Riley is housebroken and crate trained. He doesn't like thunder storms and can be a little anxious and tends to chase and nip his own tail when he doesn't feel secure. He'll need someone that he can trust and believe in to keep him safe and calm his fears. He would benefit from someone with prior German Shepherd experience. He is up to date on his shots, has been neutered, and is heartworm negative. He's an active boy and would make a great running buddy!! Riley LOVES to play with his ball and is always happy to see his people

House Broken: Yes
Obedience Trained: Yes. Knows sit, stay, paw, fetches

History: Shiloh was rescued from a high kill, sub standard shelter in West Virginia. She was taken in by our rescue, nursed back to health and spayed. After her spay, we noticed an intolerance for other female dogs but seems to get along well with male dogs. All four canine teeth are filed back at the same length indicating she could've been a bait dog for a fighting ring at one point, which would explain her intolerance for other females.
Altered: Yes
Good with Kids: no young kids. Has been accepting of teenagers that are kind to her after a period of 3 months and gaining the understanding that they are her 'people'.
Good with Cats: no
Good with Dogs: only males. Absolutely no females

Description: Shiloh is a bright, intelligent, affectionate, beautiful girl. She was rescued in July 2008 from a West Virginia shelter where she had been starved, chained, neglected & abused by a miserable family and some young kids. She is an amazing girl with a knack for playing ball. She has endless energy and will fetch a ball, chuck-a-duck or other toy as many times as you care to throw it. Shiloh would prefer to be an only dog, as she doesn't get along well with other females. Due to her abusive past, she doesn't trust small children so a home with teenagers/ young adults would be great. Shiloh requires a fenced backyard but is very mindful of the boundary so a 4' high fence would be fine.

Description: I have a german shepard dog that is in need of a good home, because we are moving. He is an older dog DOB 11/13/01. He is house broken, but he mostly stays outside, because he needs a lot of room to run. He is not good with other dogs. He has been good with my children, and I do not think he would hurt a child, but I would never leave him alone with a small child unsupervised. He is very large (125 lbs). And as I said in the post he needs a special kind of owner. He will bite someone he doesn't know, if not introduced properly. He is very weary with strangers. He was my fathers dog who has passed away, and we are trying to find the right home for him. We do not want him to go somewhere and then when the family decides they cannot handle him just to be sent somewhere else. Nor do I want him going somewhere where he will be chained up and ignored. I also do not want him hurting anyone or anyone hurting him. He really needs someone with a firm hand and time to spend with him so that a good bond can be formed. He is due a rabies shot, which we are going to try to get before we send him to his new home.
He is purebred A KC we never had him registered but we have the registration papers for him, they just need to be filled out and sent in. We also have his pedigree and copies of his parents papers. And he really doesn't like to ride in the cars. Please email me back as to how you could help me place our dog in a place where he will have proper care.
