DESCRIPTION: Finnegan is a pretty little pup who came from a back yard breeder along with two of his siblings.  He's an out-going boy who is learning to walk on a leash (he had to be carried out of the shelter). :)  Finn has displayed dominant personality traits, like barking to get his way, so would be best suited for a home that can give him strong leadership and consistent discipline.  He's a puppy now but will soon be a large German Shepherd so needs someone to instill the right behaviors now while they have the best chance.  He's a sweet boy who can't wait to be in a foster home!  We will update you soon but don't wait long on this beautiful baby.

DESCRIPTION: Henry is a sweet boy who is rather confused by what has happened to his life.  He has lived his whole life indoors and has been taught basic obedience.  His parents went through a divorce which then landed him with the college student son who tried keeping him at school with him but that just did not work out.  Henry is now with us looking for a new home that promises not to give him up again.  Henry is a very good boy who rides well in the car, listens very well to instructions, and enjoys getting attention from "his" people.  He gets along well with kids and we are told actually does better when other dogs are around as he can be a bit shy and unsure in new situations.  He has not been well socialized with men however so we will be working on this with him.

Update 01/22: When I first came to MAGSR, I was very confused.  But with a little time and lots of affection I am ready to go home.  "No animal I know can consistently be more of a friend and a companion than a dog." - Stanley Leinwoll.  I would love to show you all of my talents and how loyal I can be. I walk well on a leash, and take treats very gently.  If that weren't enough I even know some basic commands.  These people are nice but they are not my family.  Could my new family be you?

DESCRIPTION: Kip (previously named King) was taken to the Dorchester County Humane Society after his owner passed away and the estate did not want to keep him.  He is very sweet and loving, and gets along with all other animals and people.  He is very playful and devoted (and very handsome).  He loves attention and is excellent in the house.  If you are looking for a great older dog who still has a lot of spunk in him, yet is mellow also, Kip is your dog.

DESCRIPTION: Giblet is as cute as can be and very thankful this holiday season.  This little girl was found living in a hollow tree by a hunter who just happened upon her.  She had obviously been dropped off out there.  She was full of fleas and worms and very hungry but is doing much better now.  She's extremely friendly and out-going and is now looking for her new family!  Her sister, Pumpkin, was found near by where Giblet was found shortly after finding her.  These girls are all puppy and all love - are looking for a new pup to add your home?  If so ask to meet these girls!

Update: Well, it has been quite a day.  We got in a truck and we rode and rode then we got in another truck and we rode and rode and finally the truck stopped.  We have a new home.  It's in what is called an kitchen and I don't think we have ever been this warm!  There is lots of fresh water and good food and we have a warm blanket to sleep on!  Wow!  Just when we were thinking how lucky we were we got something called a bath.  Not sure I want to do that again but my sister sure smells better!

My name is Giblet but Aunt Patty calls me Precious since I am so little and cuddly.  My sister Pumpkin gets called Sweetness.  She is all black with just a little brown between her toes.  She tries to boss me around since she is bigger than I am.
We're off to get our beauty sleep so we can get our pictures taken tomorrow.

Update: We got pretty new necklaces today and we are especially beautiful with our glossy coats. We have made our lists for Santa: we want homes of our own. We have been working hard to get ready. Most of the times we go potty outside and we sleep in the crate. We take turns waking Aunt Patty up so we can go potty outside. She is very funny when she gets up at 4 a.m. Sometimes she hangs things on the tree in the living room. Humans sure are strange.
The pups are wonderful little girls. They are gentle and loving.
Pumpkin is in charge. She's the first to get a toy and makes sure her sister follows her lead. When I hear Giblet barking, I know Pumpkin has all the toys again. Pumpkin is larger, around 22 pounds, Giblet is 18 pounds. We really don't know what mix they are but there is some hound in there somewhere.
These little girls want their Christmas wish to come true. They are
ready to go home with you.

Update 1/17: "I am so beautiful and smart.  I learned how to escape  the kitchen so now I get to stay with Aunt Patty when she is at her desk.  I might be leash-ed to her chair but I am really good.  I only chew on things she gives me.  I am doing much better on going potty outside and learning how to walk on a leash. So my question is, why am I still here?  I love children and other dogs.  I don't bother the cat.  I will absolutely adore you if your give me belly rubs.  So, please take me home with you."

DESCRIPTION: Maggie is a gorgeous girl who was brought into the shelter by her previous dad.  He was in tears as he brought her in.  He said that he and his wife were splitting up and that he had to leave the house but could not take Maggie with him.  He had tried to get his wife to keep her for him but she refused.  Maggie is a strong-willed girl who really personifies what a GSD is all about - smart, high energy, eager to please, loyal, and devoted.  Maggie would likely be fine with kids but because of her energy level and lack of training we'd recommend older kids for now.  She will excel at obedience and will undoubtedly make someone a great family member!

Update: Maggie is a VERY smart and very active girl.  Add these two things together and you have a dog who should not go to just any home.  Maggie needs an active home where she will get lots of exercise and lots of discipline.  If you watch her, you will see her figuring out how to get into things she is after, how to skirt around the rules, and how to basically get her way.  She's a gorgeous girl but will need someone to take charge from the beginning of the relationship.  She's really just a fantastic GSD - true to form and ready to make an impact on the world!

Update 12/13: I let Vivian into the field so that she could run around some.  Maggie was in the other field next to us.  Maggie got out of her area after she decided she wanted to be with Vivian.  From that point on they were the best of friends.  They played really hard... and had a ball.  Then we took them for a walk.  They were pretty good walking on the leash but keep in mind they had been playing for a while, so they were a little tired.  You should really ask to meet this beautiful, loving girl soon!

For helping get these girls to us, special thanks to:

Steve McGarva, Mary Eldergill and Elizabeth Kracht for their work in restoring these girls to health and saving them from the beach.  As well as Amigos de los Animales and Manos Por Patas for getting them to us!

DESCRIPTION: Nina and Nicole have an amazing story.  These two girls are coming to us from farther away then any other dog that MAGSR has helped...they are flying in tomorrow from Puerto Rico.  For the past two years, these sweet girls have been living on a beach known as "Dead Dog Beach", basically it is a dumping ground where people take their unwanted dogs.  They live in near starvation conditions and all have illnesses of some kind.  Nina and Nicole as you will see in their pictures were severely malnourished and ravaged by mange.  Special thanks to amazing animal rescue workers (see above) for helping them! Nina and Nicole are VERY sweet girls.  They have been living with a vet office for the last several months while they recover and have grown attached to the staff there - and the staff to them of course!  They get along with other dogs obviously but might not be good with very small dogs or cats - we'll check this further.  These two dogs are VERY attached to one another; Nicole has basically been a mother to Nina for her short life so far.  As such, MAGSR is really hoping that someone will come along who wants two dogs...that this person will then ask to adopt not just Nina but Nicole as well sot hat they can live a life of comfort, love, and warmth - together.  If this proves difficult we will adopt them out separately but we hoping to give these two dogs the best possible end to their long rescue journey.  We will update you after we get to spend some time with these two wonderful dogs.  These girl will be available very soon so please ask to meet them today!

Update 01/18: We waited anxiously all day for the girls to arrive then finally they were here. We actually heard them barking their greetings while Bill was signing all the paperwork required. We wanted to rush out to the cargo area but had to wait until their crates were brought to us. Then amid recounting their story to the 3 very interested attendants we had our first glimpse of them in their travel crates...two frightened girls peering out at us. After a few introductory and reassuring words letting them know we were thrilled to see them, the doors of the crates were opened and the girls put their paws on American Mainland soil for the first time. Nina and Nicole could not have cared less they only had eyes for each other...they were sooooo happy to be back together again!

After the reunion they turned their attention back to their welcoming committee Bill, Tricia and Pat. They were only reserved for a brief instant, then I guess the doggy smells on us confirm to them we were OK. After hugs and kisses on both sides it was out the freight terminal door and into the cold crisp air of Maryland for a long overdue potty break. After more hugs and kisses, treats, and a short walk the girls started to notice the 26 degree temperature so it was time to see if they would like their new lightweight fleece lined coats...boy did they ever...they were styling and warm.

After more hugs and kisses it was time to hop up in the back of Bill's car for the ride to the kennel. They each found their new comforters and immediately snuggled down on them, Nicole actually managed to cover up and at one point only her head was showing. Two very teary eyed volunteers watched as these very sweet girls drove off with Bill as we knew that none of this would have been possible if not for the love and care of their guardian angels on an island far away.

DESCRIPTION: Whisper and her sister Uma were both abandoned in a small town outside Hagerstown.  They were obviously starving and in desperate need of a bath.  A good Samaritan brought them to a friend who knew about us so called to see if we could help.  These girls are very sweet and love getting attention.  They need to learnt hat they no longer have to worry about not having enough food but other than that are in seemingly good shape.  We will update you soon...unless they are adopted first! :)

Update 01/13: Uma is very scared right now and is wondering why her world has been turned upside down like it has.  She's had a really rough week so will need some time to adjust in her foster home.  Once she trusts you she absolutely adores you and she loves to be loved on!  Uma is a beautiful, beautiful girl who will soon blossom into a fabulous girl.  She needs to gain some confidence and some weight but is otherwise healthy.  Her foster will update you soon.

DESCRIPTION: Vivian was not being well cared for by her owners and had been living outside in all the elements, no shelter of any kind.  A kind neighbor, after months of trying, finally convinced the owner to give her up. She has now made her way into the MAGSR family.  Vivian is a sweet girl who obviously loves kids because as soon as she sees them she gets very excited and starts wagging her tail while trying to go say hello to them.  This sweet girl would LOVE to have kids of her own!  She is affectionate and sensitive.  Vivian will make a wonderful new family addition.  Ask to meet her today!

Vivian came to the kennel today and was anything but unsure.  This is a super friendly, social, happy young girl.  She will "talk" to you when you talk to her and literally carried on a conversation with me for a minute or so.  It was very cute and it made her SO happy!  She loves affection and likes to lean into you to be petted.  She's a sweet girl who will make some lucky family very happy!

Update: I spent the day with Vivian this past Saturday and she is a total sweetheart.... she loved everyone she came in contact with, both human and dog. She had lots of energy when I got her out of the kennel so I let her run in the field.  Maggie was in the other field.  Maggie got out of her area and decided she wanted to be with Vivian.  From that point on they were the best of friends.  They played really hard... and had a ball.  Then we took them for a walk.  They were pretty good walking on the leash but keep in mind they had been playing for a while, so they were a little tired.  Vivian is an absolute doll.... She loves life. She is young so she does have lots of energy and probably would enjoy a fur brother or sister.  I can't imagine we will have her long, so please ask to meet Vivian so you can be the lucky one to have her as a member of your family!!!

Update 01/13: With Vivian, what you see is what you get. She is a confident little girl who has made herself at home right away. We went for our morning walk and she did very well; my dogs were off leash, darting through the woods and chasing each other, but Viv stayed mostly at my side.

After our walk, Viv got a much needed bath. She did not enjoy the experience but did not whine or struggle. She just stood there, giving me her most pathetic look (which was very pathetic since she has two black dots above her eyes, accentuating all of her facial expressions). Viv may be a contender for the Guinness Book of World Records: she is trying to give you as many kisses as possible in the shortest time possible. Her little tongue darts at your face like a hummingbird's, looking for nectar. No one is exempt from her kisses. Rolf and Argos (the resident dogs) look like they are getting kissed by a visiting aunt but that does not discourage Viv at all.

Viv could be a littermate of my dog, Rolf. Rolf is a "randomly-bred" dog from West Virginia; we have had a fun time guessing Rolf's ancestry. We have not come to any conclusions but Viv seems to have a very similar lineage. Rolf and Vivian are of the same height, have a similar build, have flop ears that stick out to the side, have reddish fur with highlights (Vivian has blond highlights and Rolf has black ones), and similar personalities (both are convinced that everyone finds them adorable). The only difference is that Rolf is short-haired and sheds, and Vivian is longer-haired and does not seem to shed. My conclusion is that Rolf and Vivian are members of their own breed, called the "Rovians". Since there are only two known members of this breed and one is already spoken for, you better snatch up the second one quickly. The probability of finding another Rovian are slim to none ;-)

DESCRIPTION: Roger is a sweet boy who had a guardian angel at his shelter that worked very hard to save him.  He is in temp foster with the shelter and is doing very well.  He has proven that he knows a few commands but in general is lacking in confidence.  He is afraid of new things and hides if he has the option.  He was even afraid of the cats at first.  He will learn quickly however and hopefully will be the fun-loving boy he wants to be all the time!  His foster says that he is very sweet and easy to have around.  she is glad he found a rescue otherwise it might be hard to let him go! :)  He will be with us beginning Jan 6th so we will update you soon.

Update: I spent some time with Roger today, and I have to say, this sweet young boy is going to make some family very happy! Roger is a bit shy and afraid, but that's to be expected, with all the changes he's had in his young life. When he gets the chance to settle into his forever-home, I am one hundred percent certain he will relax, and come out of his shell. He's just your typical young dog -- bright, alert, and inquisitive. And he's absolutely gorgeous -- such beautiful markings, and a wonderfully expressive face. Roger bonded quickly with me in the relatively short amount of time I spent with him today -- he is going to bond very, very strongly with his new family, and be a loving, loyal companion for many years to come.

Update 01/14: Roger has come back because the dad in the home found out he was severely allergic to Roger. The family is devastated by this, especially the kids.  I can't say enough nice things about Roger with kids. As soon as he saw the kids, his tail started wagging and kept going as they approached. He doesn't jump, he's not mouthy, and he really wants to be a part of whatever the kids are doing.  Roger gets along with all other dogs, even not so nice ones.  He rode very well in the car and waited patiently even though we were driving around for awhile.  Roger is very laid back and well behaved, especially for his age. He's really a great dog who you will fall instantly in love with!

DESCRIPTION: Atlas was turned into the shelter because he kept going after the family chickens. He was nearly put to sleep, we thought he had been actually, but by some luck of the draw he made it through. Atlas has since taken a very long journey to get to us from NC. He's been given rave reviews by EVERYONE who has met him since then. The vet in NC that saw him said that they rarely see dogs as healthy or sweet as Atlas come out of the shelter - they were very impressed with him. He walks very nicely on a leash and is very sweet. He's well-behaved despite all the changes and all the strangers. He will be with us starting Monday the 15th so we will update you then.

Update 01/21: Atlas is nothing short of an AMAZING dog.  He has stolen the hearts of every single person who  has the pleasure of meeting him.  He is very easy-going and loves just hanging out with his people.  He gets along great with other dogs and is so laid backed its almost impossible to imagine him chasing chickens or anything else for that matter.  Words won't do this boy justice...ask to meet him today!

DESCRIPTION: Suzie had a great time today running around the field burning off some energy after a week in the kennel.  She had even more fun when Hasso came into the field and she got to play with him.  Suzie certainly has a thing for bigger, easy-going guys!  There may not be another dog with MAGSR right now who is as happy as Suzie is to see you when you take her out of the kennel.  She loves playing with her ball and even more loves playing in water!  If you are looking for a smaller girl who will still get you outside in this great weather like what we had today then ask to meet Suzie - she's the one for you!

Update: I have found myself in a very strange predicament and could use your help. I was originally adopted almost three years ago to what I thought was my forever family. I am not sure what "downsize"  means, but that's how I landed back at MAGSR. When I first got here I was so sad, scared, confused, lonely, and to make matters worse, overweight!  "A really companionable and indispensable dog is an accident of nature. You can't get it by breeding for it, and you can't buy it with money. It just happens along."-EB White, The Care and Training of a Dog. That description would be me! I am one of a kind. I really like all the humans at MAGSR who spend time with me. There is one who comes up and always takes me out, THANKS EVA!!  I thoroughly enjoy a good swim in a plastic pool or in the creek. But my favorite is playing ball. There is no other dog that can play ball as good as me. I am so versatile that I can play in the field, go for a walk, swim, chase a ball, or sit right next to you and snuggle all day.  When humans come up on the weekends to take us for walks, I get so excited in my run, instead of wagging my tail, I wag my whole body. Henry Wheeler Shaw once said "Money will buy you a pretty dog, but it won't buy you the wag of her tail". Well that's not exactly true. If you adopt me I would be so happy I would wag my tail all day long! Did I tell you I was a real looker too!  Since I have told you a lot about me I know you are wondering about when I am going to bring up the weight thing. I have lost weight (YEAH!!) but because of being in a kennel all week and not being exercised I still need to lose a few more pounds. Once I am adopted and not living in a kennel the rest of this weight will disappear. Ok come on, how many of you don't have a few extra pounds to lose?? We could do it together.  Back in the beginning when I said I need your help, please consider adopting me. I really want to go home. Since I am lucky enough to be the "Dog of the Month" maybe my luck will hold out and I will be adopted by you. I would not be a pet, I would be a new family member. I would be the family member you would be proud of!!

Update: I am confused. I have a personality that could stop a truck. I get along with most bigger dogs, not the little ones, and I am very friendly towards humans. Please don't repeat this, I don't want the other females at the kennel to be jealous, but I have had more boyfriends then any other dog here!! Only because I get to go in the field and play in the pool and with the hose. I really love doing that, especially when I am with a friend. I am a very loving dog who just adores whatever human attention I can get. I would love to be in your home with your family, having you spoiling me. Wouldn't that be great? I have a lot to offer and will give you everything I have, please come by and see me.

Update 11/14: Gilda Radner once said "I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love.  For me they are the role model for being alive."  I don't understand why I am still at the kennel. I have been here way too long.  I am happy, cute, loving, outgoing and more than ready to go home.   I hope this holiday season brings me (and you) some good luck.  I need a family to celebrate with.  I hope that is you.

Description: Diesel is purebred black German shepherd. He was found wandering by a bus driver who saw him and pulled over.  She opened her school bus doors and Diesel just hopped right in as if he had been waiting for her to stop and pick him up! :)  He is a very sweet dog who isn't obedience trained yet. He was treated for heartworms at his shelter with funds raised just for him because the shelter staff felt he deserved a chance - that should tell you how wonderful he really is! :)  He was kept as the "office dog" while he recovered from his treatment and did very well with all the people and other animals around.  He is great with cats and really enjoys people. He won't be with us until the 8th, but we felt the need to get him a jump start on being adopted so you could hurry and get your application in now.  We will update you when we know more.

DESCRIPTION: Brett comes to us from WV where he's been living his life in an outdoor kennel.  This beautiful boy is very friendly and lived with kids, cats, and other dogs.  He did not however like the horses that he lived with which is why he has lost his home.  So as long as you don't have horses this will be a great family addition!  Brett likes to play with toys and is especially interested in playing tug of war!  Brett is an out-going boy who will be staying at our vet for this coming week but should be able to be met next weekend, 12/09.  Apply soon as Brett will be adopted very fast I am sure!

Update 12/13: Hello, hello can you hear me?  Here I sit at the kennel, and I shouldn't be here.  I am a fun loving energetic dog, who can be very affectionate.  I would love to have a family to call my own. I will attach very quickly to my new family and will be the star in my training class.  Did I mention I am really smart too!  Come by and ask to see me, you won't be disappointed

DESCRIPTION: They came up from behind us. They came in from in front of us. They were even sneaking up on the side. They were squawking (no - screaming at us!!), they are not so pretty attack chickens. So I did what any self-respecting GSD/husky would do. I pulled on the leash to get the heck out of there!!! I tried to make friends with them, but that wasn't happening! I am very easy to get along with - except if you are an evil chicken I guess. I put up with being nipped at by other dogs on "my" walk, and I did nothing. I am a very laid back, very well behaved, all around a nice guy, who wants to please his humans. I know how to walk on a leash well and just like everyone. I take treats very gently, and I really need to get away from these chickens! They are ruining my reputation as a macho dog!!! Could you please come by and see me? Oh, wait, unless you have chickens!!!

Update: Well, I am here at my foster house and am I a happy boy. I HAVE A YARD to run in. But these other dogs, I am not so sure of them. This puppy named Rocky keeps instigating and getting us in trouble. And then there is this Trinity pup, she is such a Princess Pup. She puts up a good face, but I know her kind and whew wee is she such a mommy's girl. Then there is Willy. I do not know how to take him yet. He is slightly smaller than me and he is a spitfire. I have really taken to my foster parents and their kids. The mommy gave me a bath yesterday. YUCK, I hope I don't have to go through that again. She said I was a smelly boy when I got there and now I smell all flowery. YUCK again!!! Well we have to go into our crates for the night and I hope to write soon.

Update: Well I had my big debut today as Aunt Stef's foster at the Feline Fiesta and Rover too event at the Harford County Humane Society. I had such a good day. I had all kinds of attention and everyone said how handsome and well behaved I was. That I was like a Gentle Giant - even though I really am NOT a giant! :) I sat, shook paws, I mean hands, stayed when I was told and took treats really gentle. There were some Husky dogs just across from us and we played and played. There were even some little humans I got to play with. Aunt Stef took some more pictures of all of us and got some good ones of me so you can see how SWEET I am. I wish someone would come take me to my Forever Home, not that I don't love all the attention I get at Aunt Stef and Uncle Fred's house, I would just like a family of my own. A family who I can please love forever. Well I am really, really tired from all of the running and playing I did today. Will write soon.

Update 12/28: Brodi is now in his new foster home and doing well. Brodi is a very good dog who loves kids and other dogs - just check out how much he loves the kids in his new pictures!  Brodi is also good with cats. He knows basic commands such as "come," "sit" and "down." He is full of energy and loves to play. Brodi also likes to cuddle. He is such a wonderful boy, won't you be the family to give him his forever home? Please ask to see Brodi, he is such a great dog!

DESCRIPTION:  Heart-Throb, so named for his loving disposition, is one of seven puppies known as the "Archer Puppies". MAGSR has been able to help both this cutie and his brother Archer. Heart-Throb and his 6 siblings were criminally thin and very scared of everything. They look like "mini-GSDs" for the most part but are likely mixed with husky or something similar. They will not grow to be very large dogs so will fit just about any where! They are starting to come around but certainly do better with other dogs around to help boost their confidence. We will update you when we get to know him better.

Update 12/21: Upon arriving at my home, Heart-Throb checked everything out, played for a while with my two 80-lb dobies and my 5-lb toy poodle, and then cuddled in my arms for a nice long nap. I held him just like a little baby - belly up! Every so often he would open his eyes, look up at me and just sigh. That's when I knew I was holding a very tender, special little boy who would make some family very happy. Heart-Throb is happy, loving guy who does his best to listen and obey. After several days in our home, he's well on his way to being housebroken. He sleeps all night in his crate without a peep or an accident. I can tell that he's trying so hard to remember all the new rules and he's picking up things very quickly so he's obviously very smart.  Heart-Throb is pretty small for a GSD mix. He currently weighs about 30lbs and shouldn't get much bigger than 40lbs. He's soooo cute and his pictures just don't do him justice.  Everyone stops and asks me about him when we're out for our daily walks.  Heart-Throb loves others dogs but he is very loyal to me already.  When all the dogs rush down the stairs in the morning to "go potty", Heart-Throb is the only one to turn back and look up the stairs to make sure that I'm coming downstairs too.  Instead of following the pack, he waits patiently for me.  He's such a sweetie.  I am cherishing my time with Heart-Throb - it will be bitter-sweet to see this little boy go.

DESCRIPTION: Reno is a very sweet boy despite being in obvious pain.  He has what is commonly called "cauliflower ear" which results from a severe ear infection that goes untreated.  He is being seen by a vet and hopefully will be feeling better soon.  Due to chronic damage however Reno will never have "prefect ears."  He's otherwise a wonderful boy who would LOVE to have a foster while he waits for his forever home.

Update: Reno is a wonderfully entertaining boy. He LOVES everything that moves it seems and really enjoyed playing in the field with other dogs today. You'd never know he was 3-4 years older than the rest out in the field that is for sure! He liked getting into the kiddie pool to play and drink. At one point I called him to come to me while he was in the pool and instead of stepping out of it he leaped straight up in the air and over the 6 inch side as if he were catapulting himself then came running over to see what I wanted. He's extremely eager to please and will do his best to make his people happy. Reno can jump 4 foot high fences so you will need to teach him otherwise if that is all that you have. He's not anxious to run away but is anxious to be with his people. If you are on one side of the fence with him on the other you can bet he'll try to jump it to get to you - we learned this yesterday! Despite his bad ear infection right now, it's amazing how loving and cuddly this boy is. He loved playing with other dogs as much as snuggling with the people I think. He's just an all-around sweet, although sometimes vocal, boy! :)

Update: Reno is just a big love bug.  He loves to cuddle and snuggle up to you for hugs.  Reno likes to run and play outside but can easily entertain himself with a ball or some water so he's not high maintenance at all.  He's amazingly grateful for all that is done for him.  He truly is a great dog who will make some lucky family - VERY happy!

Update 12/31: Reno is doing well. He's putting on weight that he needed and now you would never know that he was under weight at all.  He still has some trouble with his ears being infected but he's getting meds for that again and should be well again soon. His owners just need to work on keeping his ears cleaned with regular cleanings and staying on top of it.  Reno really loves kids very much and sleeps with both of my kids in bed at night...So if you are looking for a dog that loves kids Reno would be for you!

DESCRIPTION: Derby is a goofy puppy for the most part right now.  He's very social and enjoys attention from anyone who will give it to him.  With some training and love he'll make a great addition to some lucky family.  We will update you once we spend a little more time with him.

Derby is ALL puppy.  He is a very energetic young dog who needs to learn some manners and basic obedience but will turn out to be a great dog.  He will learn quickly with consistency but will need a firm hand on occasions I am sure as he has not been given any guidance to date it seems.  He loves to play and gets along with other dogs but may need to learn some social skills with them too as not all dogs want to immediately wrestle and jump on one another! :)  Derby is a happy, sociable dog who will make an active family very happy.  If you are interested in a dog who wants to get outside and enjoy the world around you then ask to meet Derby today!

I met Derby for the first time today and all I can say is WOW!  He's such a wonderfully sweet soul.  He is a puppy and certainly enjoyed playing in the field with other dogs but I think that will wear off soon enough.  He is a big softy at his core and really just needs a home that will make him feel safe.  Derby met Santa today and was rather scared of him to begin with.  He barked and tried to run away.  Santa gave him a few dog treat however and Derby was brave enough to take then...within a few minutes he was leaning up against Santa and letting him bet his belly!  Derby would make a great dog for a family with kids that could play with him but certainly for a home with another playful dog.  He's just such a sweetheart it's hard to explain without meeting him!  Ask to meet him today! :)

Update 12/13:  Single handsome young male looking for love.  Energetic male looking for a single/family who likes to play catch, and go for walks.  I am fun loving and need a special person(s)  who can love and spend time with me.  I am rich in personality, but sorry not in money!  If you fit this description then I could be a great addition to your family.  Please ask to see me.

DESCRIPTION: Buddy is a super sweet boy who seems to love everyone that he meets. he stole the hearts of the shelter he came to us from - thus the reason they fought so hard to find him a rescue before it was too late. We know Buddy gets along with other dogs but will be testing him with a variety of things once we get him to us this weekend. He will not be available to be met until Sunday the 3rd. We will update you soon.

Update: Buddy's a total sweetie.  No aggression at all…with food, toys, other dogs…he is a total love bug. He seems to be housebroken, no accidents yet and loves to play ball. He really seems into other dogs. When we were just outside playing he heard a dog barking and he was enraptured with it. He absolutely loves children, he was all o
