The Dogs

Most of our dogs are adopted within a few weeks of them coming into MAGSR. Sometimes it only takes a few days. It's even been known to happen in a few hours!

But every now and then, we take in a dog that is more challenging to place. Sometimes there's a health issue, sometimes a behavioral problem, sometimes the dog is just "old" by most people's standards, and sometimes the dog simply needs to go to an experienced owner for one reason or another.

We know that complete disclosure is not only ethical, but also the only way to ensure a successful adoption. To help with that, we have identified the Dogs: dogs who have a special need. There's nothing wrong with the Dogs; they just aren't the right dog for many applicants...or have been around for far too long due to no real fault of their own.  But we are sure the right home is out there for each and every one of them.  Could that be yours?

The single most likely way to work a dog out of ANY issue is through good obedience training.  We have set up training funds for each of our heart dogs in hopes that training is the key to rehabilitating them.  If you'd like to help support these dogs while they wait for their forever homes, please click on the link below. Because you know what? Their kisses are just as sweet as the ones from puppies who find homes in 20 minutes.

Currently, our Dogs include:

Jenny - Jenny does not get along with small dogs. Her previous owner reported that while breaking up a dog fight, she was bitten in the hand. Jenny can not go to a home with small children or small animals because of this. We will be working with Jenny through obedience training and will update you soon on her progress!

Melba - Melba was with us for over 6 months the first time and was a cuddle bug when it came to people.  She just LOVED attention and was very gentle when asking for it.  After being adopted and not getting strong leadership, Melba decided to take over the house and has since turned into a dog that must go to a home that can handle dominance in a dog.  If not, she will run the home.  We will be working with Melba through obedience training so will update you soon.

As always, if you want more information on any of these dogs, feel free to e-mail us.
